custom typeface for Sport BC

commissioned by Karacters

For the re-launch of the Sport BC brand, Karacters Design Group commissioned a custom typeface for use in the online and printed brand material. The result was 'Everyone', a typeface inspired by the phrase 'Everyone is an athlete'. The formal characteristics of the letters resulted from a need to typeset short phrases over top of colourful sporting images. A necessary requirement of the font was the ability to all-but obscure the athletes’ faces in order to suggest the people in the photos could be anyone, perhaps even you and I. This required an extremely heavy set of letterforms with minimal counter-shapes while ensuring the letters did not become too comical in nature.
